RENOVATION UPDATE

The original submittals have been approved by Anne Arundel County subject to a few changes which include the addition of fire-doors in our main Club foyer. The Club anticipates filing final plans to the county by November 24th and hopefully receiving approved permits for construction by mid December. We anticipate beginning construction by year end with major construction beginning January 5th. Currently, our construction timeline is approximately two months. We project to open the newly renovated Members Only Clubhouse in early March.

Our Golf Operations will be transferred to a mobile facility located next to the Players Assistant station and will operate out of this facility for the foreseeable future. The temporary facility will include our golf pro shop and restroom facilities for non-members and their guests.

GOLF TIP 3-9 DRILL

from Scott Thornton - Director of Instruction

Do you block the ball to the right? Do you know how to release the clubhead? Releasing the clubhead is the closing of the clubface through the hitting zone (hip level to hip level). Most players have too much tension in their hands and forearms during the swing, making it virtually impossible to release the clubhead. If you do not release the clubhead, it is hard to hit the ball straight. To help with the release, start by gripping the club with a lighter tension. Then try the 3-9 drill. This should help you feel the clubhead release.

3-9 Drill

• Picture a clock. Set your hands to 3 o’clock (this would be hip level to your right.) The toe of the club should be facing the sky.
• Swing through the ball to the same position on the follow-through (9 o’clock or hip level). The club should look the same in this position
as it did at 3 o’clock.
• The ball flight should go straight or a little left if done correctly. If the ball spins off to the right, you haven’t closed the clubface early enough.
• Try this drill the next time you are at the range.
