  • • What is the Conversion of South River Golf Course?

    The public golf course of South River will begin the process of converting from a public golf course to a private member club. The club will be named “The Golf Club at South River”. Currently a Steering Committee has been formed to assist the ownership group with this conversion process.

  • • What is The Golf Club at South River?

    The Golf Club at South River will be a membership-oriented club organized to provide golf and social facilities and outstanding programs, recreational activities and services for its members and guests.

  • • What is the primary purpose of The Golf Club at South River?

    The primary, overriding purpose of The Golf Club at South River is to offer a quality club environment where members can enjoy world-class amenities and an unparalleled club experience that meets and exceeds their expectations. The Club provides multiple recreational activities for members, family members and friends to enjoy and the high level of services and conveniences expected of a fine club.

    The Club will be family friendly where recreation, cultural and social activities are created to celebrate friendship, sportsmanship and a deep sense of community.

  • • What facilities will The Golf Club at South River offer?

    The “Club Facilities” currently include the following:

    • An 18-hole golf course;
    • Golf practice facilities including a practice range and putting green; and
    • A golf clubhouse offering a snack bar and lounge, meeting room, men’s and women’s restroom and changing rooms, golf shop, administrative offices, and patio/deck areas. Additional fitness and kids recreational areas are also being explored.

  • • Does the Club anticipate renovating any of the Club Facilities?

    Yes. The tentative schedule is:

    • This year the Club will create a “Members Only” Concierge room in the current golf clubhouse. This room will replicate the overall look and feel of the clubhouse once it is renovated.
    • At the sale of 100 Golf Memberships a renovation of the Practice Facility will take place.
    • At the sale of 200 Golf Memberships the renovation of the Golf Course will take place.
    • At the sale of 275 Golf Memberships the renovation of the Golf Clubhouse will take place. This renovation schedule will be fully outlined in the complete Membership Documents.

  • • Is The Golf Club at South River a member-owned equity club and if not, who owns and operates the Club Facilities?

    No. The Golf Club at South River is structured as a non-equity membership club. The Club Facilities are currently owned and operated by Washington Brick and Terra Cotta Company, L.P., L.L.P., a Virginia limited partnership, doing business as The Golf Club at South River (the “Club”), as a right-to-use facility The membership opportunity allows the member to use the Club Facilities in accordance with the membership classification selected and does not provide the member with any ownership interest in the Club or the Club Facilities.

  • • What types of membership will be offered at The Golf Club at South River?

    The Club will offer three general classifications of non-equity, non-proprietary membership known as “Golf Memberships”, “Corporate Golf Memberships” and “Social Memberships”. Those members who join early in the program on the day of the launch will be known as Founder Members of the club and will receive special benefits.

  • • What are the privileges of a Golf Membership?

    Golf Membership allows use of all of the Club Facilities and to attend club-sponsored events held at the Club Facilities on a space available basis upon payment of the applicable membership deposit and Club Fees. Golf Members shall not be charged green fees, golf cart fees or practice range fees for use of the golf facilities, but shall pay personal charges incurred at The Golf Club at South River and all other Club Fees established by the Club. Golf Members shall have such advance sign-up privileges to reserve golf starting times (which may be changed in the Club’s sole discretion) as may be established by the Club from time to time. Golf Members shall have priority to participate in any club-sponsored golf tournaments on a space available basis and priority for use of lockers and the golf bag storage facility on a space available basis upon payment of the applicable fees.

  • • What are the privileges of a Corporate Golf Membership?

    A Corporate Golf Membership is only available to on-going, active, operating businesses and shall be held in the name of a company, corporation, limited liability company, partnership, trust or other form of business ownership (collectively, the “company”). The company, as the actual member and owner of the Corporate Golf Membership, shall designate one primary designee and may designate up to an additional three associate designees to use the membership use privileges. The designee(s) of the membership use privileges must be an officer, director, partner, owner or employee of the company, must submit an Application for Use Privileges and be approved by the Club. Each Corporate Golf Membership shall be considered to be one membership without regard to the actual number of designees.

    The company may change the designees of the membership use privileges upon approval of the new designee by the Club and the payment of the applicable non-refundable change of designee fee to the Club.

  • • What are the privileges of a Social Membership?

    A Social Membership allows use of the golf clubhouse and to attend designated club-sponsored non-golf events held at the Club Facilities on a space available basis upon payment of the applicable non-refundable initiation fee and Club Fees. Social Members shall also have the opportunity to play three rounds of golf during non-prime times established by the Club during the membership year. Social Members shall pay the applicable greens fee and golf cart fee for use of the golf facilities and shall pay personal charges incurred at The Golf Club at South River and all other Club Fees established by the Club. Social Members shall have no further access to the golf course or golf practice facilities provided at The Golf Club at South River, except as a guest of a Golf Member and payment of applicable guest fees.

  • • Will my family be welcome at the Club?

    Yes. The ability to spend quality time with family is of paramount importance at The Golf Club at South River. The Club is committed to providing a family friendly environment.
    Immediate family members will have use privileges and shall include the spouse of the primary member or designee who is living in the same household as the primary member or designee, and the unmarried children of each who are under the age of twenty-four and living in the same household as the primary member or designee, attending school on a full-time basis, or serving in the military on active duty.

  • • Will extended family members have any preferential fees to use the facilities?

    The Club may allow other members of the primary member’s or designee’s family, including but not limited to, children who do not fall within the definition of immediate family members described above and the parents and grandchildren of the primary member or designee and his/her spouse, to use certain facilities provided at The Golf Club at South River from time to time upon payment of reduced guest fees.

  • • Will the Club offer any type of membership to children of members?

    The Club may offer a Legacy Membership to children who are between twenty-three and thirty years of age of Golf Members who are in good standing. Legacy Members shall have the same privileges to use the Club Facilities as Golf Members and shall pay the same dues and other Fees as Golf Members.

  • • Will the Club reserve golf starting times for use by Golf Members?

    The Club shall reserve certain golf starting times for the exclusive use by Golf Members and designees of Corporate Golf Memberships from time to time until two days prior to the day of play as long as the golf course is available for use by non-member daily-fee users. The reserved golf starting times for Golf Members and designees shall be determined in the sole discretion of the Club and may be changed by the Club from time to time and will be expanded as necessary to accommodate the playing patterns of these members from time to time. Any golf starting time that is available to Golf Members and designees that has not been reserved two days prior to the day of play shall be released and made available to non-member daily-fee users, Golf Members, and designees of Corporate Golf Memberships that desire to use the golf course on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • • What is the maximum number of memberships available at The Golf Club at South River?

    The maximum number of outstanding dues-paying Golf Memberships and Corporate Golf Memberships is limited to four hundred fifty.
    Although the maximum number of Social Memberships is not currently limited, the Club reserves the right to limit the number of outstanding Social Memberships from time to time, in its sole discretion.

  • • May I invite guests to use the Club Facilities?

    Yes. It is the intention of The Golf Club at South River to accommodate guests without inconvenience to the members in accordance with the guest policy of the Club and the Rules and Regulations.

  • • Who is eligible to obtain membership privileges?

    Membership at The Golf Club at South River is available by invitation only. The Club is the only entity permitted to offer an invitation to membership.

  • • What does a prospective member pay to obtain membership privileges at The Golf Club at South River?

    To obtain a Golf Membership at The Golf Club at South River the applicant shall pay a refundable membership deposit to the Club and to obtain a Social Membership the applicant shall pay a non-refundable initiation fee to the Club.

  • • Can the membership deposit and initiation fee be paid in installments?

    Yes. The Club will allow the required membership deposit for Golf Memberships and Corporate Golf Memberships to be paid in four installments as follows:

    • 25% of the required membership deposit shall be paid to the Club upon submitting the Application for Membership Privileges and Membership Agreement to the Club;
    • 25% of the required membership deposit shall be paid to the Club thirty days prior to the opening of the renovated golf practice facilities;
    • 25% of the required membership deposit shall be paid to the Club thirty days prior to the opening of the renovated golf course; and
    • 25% of the required membership deposit shall be paid to the Club thirty days prior to the opening of the renovated golf clubhouse. The Club will allow the required initiation fee for Social Memberships to be paid in two installments as follows:
    • 50% of the required initiation fee shall be paid to the Club upon submitting the Application for Membership Privileges and Membership Agreement to the Club; and
    • 50% of the required initiation fee shall be paid to the Club thirty days prior to the opening of the renovated golf clubhouse

  • • How do I become a Founder member and how does the membership application process work?

    Persons who desire to obtain Founder Golf Memberships or Social Memberships and companies that desire to obtain Corporate Golf Memberships must register at www.golfclubsr.com . They must complete the Membership Interest Form. Applicants will be reviewed and those individuals found suitable for membership will be issued a Membership Application and full Membership Documents for their review and completion.

  • • When will the Club begin accepting applications?

    The Club anticipates launching the membership program in May 2008. Applicants must follow guidelines that will be outlined in future communications.

  • • If my Atlantic Golf Membership expires prior to the May launch what should I do?

    You may play golf at a twilight rate up until the May launch. If your Atlantic Golf Membership does not expire until later in the year you may request a dues credit if you purchase a Golf Membership in the new club.

  • • How much will Golf, Corporate and Social Membership cost?

    The price is still being determined based upon the full scope of the renovations that will take place.

  • • Can a Golf Member arrange for the Club to transfer his/her Golf Membership to an adult child or grandchild?

    Yes. A Golf Member may request that the Club transfer his/her membership to an adult child or grandchild (24 years of age and over) of the primary member upon approval by the Club and such member’s spouse, if any. The child or grandchild must submit a Membership Application and Membership Agreement, be approved by the Club and pay to the Club the additional membership deposit.

  • • Is any portion of the membership deposit paid to the Club for a Golf Membership and Corporate Golf Membership refundable?

    Yes. The amount of refund that a member will receive will be outlined in their individual Membership Agreement. Those members that join earlier in the program will receive the highest amount of refundability upon the re-issuance of their membership.

  • • Can a Member arrange to transfer their membership to a person that buys their home?

    Yes. The membership must transfer through the club and the new applicant must be approved for membership. The resigning member in good standing will resign their membership back to the club and the new member will make application and pay the going rate for membership to the Club. Once the new membership is processed the resigning member will receive a portion of their membership deposit based upon when they joined the Club. This would allow the new homeowner to bypass any waiting list at the Club for Golf Membership. Founder members may issue their membership to the new buyer at the original price for up to 5 years.

  • • Who is responsible for the operation of the Club Facilities?

    The Club currently intends to manage and operate the Club Facilities and may retain a management firm to manage and operate the day-to-day affairs of the Club Facilities.

  • • How will the Club keep informed on the desires of the membership?

    The Club will establish an Advisory Board whose purpose includes fostering good relations between Club Members and management of the Club Facilities and providing member input on programs and activities provided at The Golf Club at South River. The Advisory Board will initially be composed of Club Members appointed by the Club from time to time. The members serving on the initial Advisory Board will be selected from those members who are Founder Members. Members of the Advisory Board shall serve staggered terms established by the Club.

    Once there are two hundred fifty dues-paying Golf Members in the Club and the renovated golf clubhouse is open for use, the Club Members will commence electing representatives to the Advisory Board. Each Golf Member, designee of Corporate Golf Memberships and Social Member shall be permitted one vote. Members of the Advisory Board shall serve staggered terms established by the Club.

  • • How are dues and other Club fees established?

    The Club shall establish the amount of dues and fees to be paid by each member at The Golf Club at South River from time to time. Members may select a Family or Single dues classification on a yearly basis.

    Although dues are annual in nature, dues for Club Memberships shall be payable in advance on or before the first day of each month during the membership year, unless otherwise established by the Club.

  • • Are members subject to any capital assessments?

    Club Members are not subject to assessments for capital improvements to the Club Facilities unless such proposed capital assessment is approved by the Club, a majority of all of the members of the Advisory Board (as described below) and a majority of all of the dues-paying Golf Members, Social Members and designees of Corporate Golf Memberships in each classification of membership that would be required to pay such capital assessment if it was approved.

  • • Will the Club Facilities be available for use by daily-fee users and other non-member users?

    The Club will allow use of the Club Facilities (except any areas that may be designated as member-only by the Club from time to time) by daily-fee users and other club sponsored non-member users from time to time upon payment of the required use fees and compliance with the rules established by the Club. It is the intent of the Club that use of the Club Facilities by daily-fee users will be eliminated over time as the number of dues-paying Golf Memberships increase. In addition, the Club will not permit use of the Club Facilities by daily-fee users as long as there are at least four hundred dues-paying Golf Members at the Club.
